As a Dance Studio, one of the many highlights in the year is the performing in a recital. As a student, recitals are an exciting time to be on stage and to perform for parents, relatives and friends. It gives parents the opportunity to see their child shine in a whole new light.
Not only do students get to show off their progress, but there are many other benefits as well.
Students who perform in front of an audience have an advantage over those who don’t when it comes to important life skills such as public speaking. Performing can also help an otherwise shy child to blossom. This confidence will carry over into many other aspects of their lives.Having passion for something at a young age teaches children what it means to feel strongly about something and what it takes to do a good job at something you care about.
Well Rounded Individuals
Participating in the recital helps one to learn how to set personal goals as well as how to work with other students on a shared goal. Working towards the performance helps to teach students patience, hard work, dedication and self-discipline.
There is increased evidence that dancing can improve intelligence in both young and old alike. Learning new skills, knowing what steps to perform next, figuring out how to execute a challenging step all utilize cognitive skills. Dancing not only exercises the body, but it exercises the brain!
Students form a bond with other members of their class while taking classes and learning the routines. They have the shared experience of dancing with each other, letting their emotions out on the dance floor; working through challenges together; helping each other and performing together. Many long lasting friendships begin or are enhanced by the shared experience of dance.
Every Parents must encourage their own daughters and sons to embrace the experience, to discover more about them, to develop skills that are unique to the performing arts and to be there to support and clap for them at the end of their recital.
